Size Newborn

Ethan has officially outgrown his preemie clothes, and is now wearing newborn stuff. I am having alot of fun with his new wardrobe options. Today we cruised through Washington Square Mall with our friends Christine and her son Jackson. Ethan was a saint, and slept the entire time. Put the boy in anything that moves and he's out. The weather still sucks but we are maintaining good spirits. Spring has to come soon.....right? Have a good day.

Weekend Update

Our weekend started Friday when Aunt Holle came to visit. She was in town from Pasadena. We spent a wonderful afternoon together. Saturday Ethan and I met our friend Jen for a long walk through the park. Ethan was awake for a whole 2 blocks. Then Ethan and Travis watched the NFL draft while I ran errands. Saturday evening we went to a house warming party for Barb, one of Grandma Allysons friends. Ethan was passed around the room.....twice and didn't mind it at all. He slept through the whole thing. (Until I wanted to take a picture!)
Sunday we visited the Harpsters, went to Trav's first softball game of the season and then BBQ'd with the Diani family. Ethan is a great traveler, and I have really enjoyed getting out and about with him. I'm feeling great, and Trav is doing well. Hope all is well with everyone.

Eight Pounds One Ounce!!!

That's right! We visited the doctor today and Ethan weighed in at 8lbs 1oz. He measured 21 1/2 inches. So in the past 2 weeks he has grown 1 inch and gained approx 2 oz a day!!! We are so excited, and a little surprised. We knew he had gained just not that much!! These pics were taken after we got home, as you can see he was worn out. We are laying low this afternoon, and then Ethan and I have a date with our friend Dawn for dinner. It's the boys poker night at our house, so we are going to get out of the hosue and go to sushi. It will be the first time Ethan goes out to dinner, so we'll see how it goes. I'm sure it will be great.

Looking forward to the weekend, which is supposed to be warmer weather. Hopefully we can get outside a little. Hope this finds everyone healthy and happy.

Steph and Ethan's Adventure!

Today Ethan and I ventured up to Trav's new office, and then to Grandma Allysons! It was a big day for us, as it was the first time we ventured out in the car solo. It felt great, and Ethan was chill as ever. He has grown so much, he fit's better in his car seat for sure. Ethan met Sadie (grandma's dog) for the first time today. Sadie was very gentle when checking him out. She didn't get jealous when Allyson held Ethan, she simply crawled into my lap for some love. Therefore Allyson cuddled Ethan, and I cuddled Sadie. It was so cute. I think Sadie and Ethan will be fast friends. We have a down day tomorrow, and then visit the pediatrician on Thurs. I'll update the blog Thurs afternoon with Ethan's new weight and length.

Chocolate Chip Mint

Not only is this my favorite ice cream......today Ethan reminded me of it. Dressed in one of his first "newborn" outfits vs. preemie and surrounded by light green and chocolate brown.....he was representing!! He has grown too long for most of his preemie outfits, and his head has definetly gotten bigger. I am excited to go to our pediatrician appt this week and check his measurments. He even feels heavier to carry. All is good on our home front. Hanging in there with nursing, everyday is a little different from the one before. Lately he has been nursing approx every 2 hrs during the day and every 2-4 at night. He loves his swing that Jack (Kate's son) gave him. Trav is great, work is good. He has been a huge help around the house, and is always happy to hang with Ethan in the morning so I can go for a walk before he leaves for work. Tomorrow Ethan and I are venturing up to dad's new office for lunch. It will be our first adventure solo. Hope this finds everyone healthy and happy. Thanks for the comments, we love reading them. Take care.

Just Hanging

Wednesday was a relaxing day for Ethan and I. We napped, fed, napped did a little laundry and then watched Oprah. These pics were taken right after his 3 pm meal. As you can see his legs are busting out of his preemie clothes!! I look forward to checking his measurments next week at the pediatricians appt. Ethan slept a lot today, due to him growing so much I'm sure! He didn't have much awake time until dad got home then he was as alert as ever!! He and Trav hung out while I went on a nice walk, and got some fresh air. Now we are hanging out watching the Colorado Rockies game and Ethan is sleeping!! It's amazing how content I am with simply chilling around the house. I truly could spend my entire day holding and cuddling Ethan; and many days do just that!! Trav says "Gooooooooood!" :)

Weekend Update

We had a great weekend here in Portland!! The weather was amazing, and we took full advantage of it!! Ethan and I took our first walk together, short but sweet. I am using the Moby sling to carry him in on outings because it keeps him closer to his mom and more protected. He seems to like it ok, everytime I put him in it he falls asleep!

Sunday we went to the farmers market and the grocery store. A big outing for us!! Ethan is doing great, eating well, sleeping well, and is his mellow happy self!! Last night was an exciting night for us....Ethan slept 5 hrs straight!! I felt so well rested this morning. We'll see how tonight goes, I'm not holding my breath!!

A Big Day!!

Yesterday was Ethans big Doctor day. We started our morning out at the pediatricians who thought he looked excellent...of course!! He gained 6 oz this last week and is now a whopping 6lbs. 6oz. After this visit, we ran home nursed, gave Ethan a dose of Tylenol and then off to the surgeons for his circumcision. He did great, and of course I cried . He is his usual self today, and does not appear to be too bothered by any pain. This of course makes me feel much better. I was seen by the OB and all is going great with my recovery as well.

Today, cousin Laurel came over for the afternoon. She was a great help, she folded the laundry, restocked the changing stations in the house and of course took great care of Ethan. She fed him some bottle, rocked him to sleep and let him sleep in her lap. His favorite place to be....in someone's arms. Her help allowed me to get a few things done around the house. It was wonderful.

Hope this finds everyone healthy and happy.

Ethan turned 3 weeks old yesterday and is doing great. Last weigh in (4-3-08) he was 6lbs and had grown to 20 1/2 inches. He is getting stronger, and bigger everyday.

Our daily activity continues to be feeding and napping, as that seems to be the best for us both right now. Ethan is on car seat restriction, meaning that someone has to sit in the backseat with him to help monitor him due to him being slightly too small. The doctor thinks that this will only last for another couple of weeks. We have weekly appts with his pediatrician, Dr. Erika Meyer (we really like her) to get weighed and measured. Therefore the two of us are happy to hang around the house and grow....well hopefully not the both of us! We are looking forward to the weather warming up so that we can start taking walks together.

Ethan is doing great with feedings, we still wake him every 3 hrs during the day to nurse. However at night he sets his own schedule, and as of now it's about every 3 hrs as well. We still supplement with a small bottle at night due to him being too tired to get enough milk by simply nursing......and mom not wanting to nurse for one and half hours at 3 am!!

We have our pediatrician appt. on Thurs this week as well as his circumcision appt. (He was too early to do it at the hospital) So I will let you know how it all goes! Hope this finds everyone doing well. We are really enjoying our little man and all the changes he brings!!

Hi family and friends! I thought this would be an easier way to stay in touch and give frequent updates on our little man, Ethan. I'm going to keep this short, just until I make sure I've got this "blogging" thing figured out. Look forward to getting comments from everyone. Love Steph, Travis and Ethan!
